Lenses&Locals: Travelling and blogging with love

When traveling has a magical flavor because you do it with the one you love!

For months we followed Ayesha and Gavin of the wonderful blog “Lenses and locals”, a couple with an addiction to one-way flights and a never-ending desire to explore the world, always with their affectionate camera in hand. Their’s is one of those blogs that makes you want to drop everything, live and fall in love, just like them! These guys inspired us so much so we decided to introduce you this amazing young couple who are 26 and 28 years old.

Ayesha and Gavin are two Australian Photographers, adventurers, soul mates and travel companions. They both grew up in the same small town in Western Australia but they had never bumped into each other although they had gone to the same high school and worked at the same supermarket. When they finally got to know each other, Gavin immediately fell for her and in less than a year later the couple moved in together in Perth and now almost nine years later they’re photographing their way around the globe.

When Ayesha graduated from college, they went on their first trip together to Singapore. but they only started becoming really addicted to travel when they flew to Vietnam, a year later.  In 2013, they boarded a plane with a one-way ticket to Canada via two months through Japan and the USA. There, in Vancouver, LENSES&LOCALS finally came to life!!

Ayesha and Gavin are a perfect team! She is a writer and a graphic designer, both of them have years of experience in photography and freelancing so it’s easy to understand that they were great together. Indeed, with thousands of photos that they’d taken through lot of countries they decided to do something with them. Especially they wanted to share their experiences and help others to realize that we didn’t have to live the traditional life that we’re all often raised to believe in, to inspire others to push the boundaries and take a chance. Lenses & Locals  was officially launched in October 2015 and now, the blog has become their full time job.

What will impress you so much is the quality of their photography!

So clean, natural, spontaneous that you just want to be there with them. Infact for them there are three things they live by: 1) scout out locations to ensure you get the best result possible, 2) rise early to be the only soul in sight, 3) be respectful of the culture and people, especially when shooting portraits.

What is their secret? Well as always it’s about balance!  But is easy to say indeed they think that traveling as a couple will either make you or break you; you’ll see each other at your very best, and at your very worst. You need to work as a team, listen to each other and avoid getting angry. It’s not going to be easy but to have your loved one by your side traveling the world is an incredible feeling, and you’ll create memories that will stay with you forever.

Everywhere they’ve travelled has had its ups and downs and every destination teaches something new, but there are some experiences that just stick with them like snorkeling for the first time in the crystal clear waters of Indonesia, cruising through the glaciers of Alaska, flying in a hot air balloon over the temples of Bagan to mark first year of being fully nomadic, making friends with the locals in Cambodia, road tripping through the Rockies in Canada, watching the sunset over Paris! This is what travel is all about for them!!

This year, Ayesha and Gavin have been to Myanmar, Thailand, England, Scotland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Austria, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Netherlands, Switzerland and Indonesia with a few months back in Western Australia. Before the end of 2016, they’ll also visit the Faroe Islands, but hunting down somewhere snowy in Europe for the last few weeks of 2016.

Do not miss their amazing experiences. Follow Gavin and Ayesha’s blogfacebook and instagram!!!
